The Nepal People Who Lost Their Lives in the Battle of Nepal
Many years ago, the Nepali people who lived in the highlands of the country suffered much from the depredations of the British. In particular, they suffered a great deal from the depredations of Sir Walter Scott and others who would visit the highlands and ruin their crops in order to see what it was like in life under the rule of the British.
A number of the people who were the victims of the depredations of Sir Walter Scott were the Nepali people who lived in the mountains in the Himalayas. The English also depredated other peoples including the Sikhs. However, the biggest tragedy that befell the Nepali people was that during the late Victorian period many of the people were forced to emigrate to the United Kingdom and other countries because they feared for their lives in their native country.
When Sir Walter Scott visited the country and saw the devastation that was occurring, he wrote about it in his novel "The Return of the King". In that book he wrote that the British would go out into the country and ruin everything they could find, including the crops, animals, houses and crops.
After the publication of "The Return of the King", several people had been murdered in Nepal and they were afraid that the British might take action to protect their countrymen. Therefore, a number of people had been arrested and the worst part was that the charges against them were very serious. Some of the people were charged with rape and were executed. Others were accused of murder and hanged.
Eventually, the Nepali people rose up against the British and in order to stop this depredation, they raised a rebellion. The revolt was called the Great Khmer Revolt. Many other people fought with them in this rebellion, but they were defeated by the British. The British sent a detachment of troops to protect their possessions in the country and they killed most of the people who had taken up arms against them.
After the war, the British left Nepal to its own devices and it was not until they occupied the highlands of the country that they began to change things. Today, many of the people of the highlands of the country are still suffering from the depredations of the British and it is hoped that more people will become involved in restoring the good condition of the highlands and the Nepali people who live there.
